Junior Sailing Camp

The Junior Sailing Camp is designed for kids aged 7+ who already have some sailing experience. It’s open to children who have ‘graduated’ from Adventure Camp or Tackers 1.

Led by our fully certified and experienced instructors, the camp offers a safe and supportive environment where kids can improve their sailing skills, make friends and enjoy exciting activities both on and off the water. Book for a single day or for the whole week, with different activities each day to keep the program fun and engaging.

Time: 9AM - 3PM daily (school holidays only)

* Experience required - For Adventure Camp ‘graduates’, or those who have some basic dinghy sailing experience and are ready to build on those skills.

Activities IncludE:

Sailing techniques and refining skills

• Rules of sailing and an introduction to racing

• Wind, tide and weather awareness

• Steering, tacking and gybing

Positioning in the boat for speed

• Knot tying

• Communication on the water (radio and flags)

• Capsize drills and safety practice

What to bring:

All equipment and life vests provided

• Hat (compulsory)

• Shoes that can get wet (compulsory)

• Swimmers

• Towel

• Change of clothes

• Sunscreen

• Refillable water bottle

• Wetsuit or rash vest (optional)

• Life vest (optional to bring your own)

• Lunch and snacks (nut free)

Please note: Sailors are welcome to use the Club’s fleet of Opti boats or bring their own.

  • Camps run rain, hail or shine. We have a mix of land and water-based activities to keep kids active and engaged.

  • Yes. All boats, sails, paddleboards, kayaks, and safety gear (including life vests) are provided by the club. Children only need to bring personal items such as swimmers, a hat, shoes that can get wet, a towel, and lunch. Wetsuits or rash vests are optional if your child feels the cold.

  • Please pack swimmers, shoes that can get wet (compulsory), a hat (compulsory), towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and a nut-free lunch and snacks. A light wetsuit or rash vest is optional if your child feels the cold.

  • Yes, you can book one day or multiple days in advance. Please note our no-refund or cancellation policy.

  • Yes, we always keep friends together.

  • Wetsuits are not required during summer unless you’re sensitive to the cold, so please bring your own if needed. Wetsuits are recommended during the cooler months. We also recommend wearing long-sleeve rashies to protect from the sun.   

  • Yes, there are multiple water stations at the club. Please bring a labelled water bottle.

  • We closely monitor weather conditions against recognised safety standards for sailing and being on the water. If conditions are judged to be unsafe, children remain fully supervised indoors and will take part in a range of fun and engaging activities until it is safe to resume outdoor programs. 

  • Children need to be able to swim 25 metres.

  • Safety is our top priority, children wear the life jackets provided by the club at all times. Children are fully supervised, including on the water, during breaks, and at lunch. All instructors are trained, accredited, and experienced in working with young sailors. Camps take place in the sheltered waters of Sydney Harbour, providing a safe and calm environment for learning. 

  • Activities vary each day and may include sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, powerboat trips, swimming, team challenges, beach games, knot tying, and more.

  • Drop-off is at 9:00am and pick-up is at 3:00pm.

  • When booking please provide details of any potential allergies or health issues. Instructors are briefed on any medical or allergy needs.

  • Yes, you are welcome to watch from the balcony. Free Wi-Fi is available.
